Do you ever get that feeling at the end of the work day? Like ‘if I have to check Facebook one more time, I will explode’? But it’s almost an obsession. Maybe someone has posted something I NEED to read; I don’t want to miss out; it’s just a quick glance – how many times have you said that? Have you thought about taking a digital detox?

According to Arianna Huffington, the average smartphone user checks his or her device every six and a half minutes. That’s over 9 times per hour! But here’s the thing for me: I get so much more work done when I don’t have colleagues sitting next to me. In previous roles the social element of work was fantastic, but it also eats into your actual productive work time. Here at home, the only distractions are housework and cooking. Not as exciting as a half an hour gossip session about someone else’s debauched weekend.
